Whole House Sediment, Carbon, and Water Conditioner

City Water Filter has selected the highest quality product that allows for customization relevant to your entire home’s water quality needs. For example: Not every household will want softer water. Unlike a Reverse Osmosis unit that is a point-of-use system for the kitchen only,  our whole house systems will connect to the main water line to treat the water entering your home.

Our systems have separate components that can be added or removed depending on needs. We have chosen filters and products based on what will purify yet produce the healthiest water for our customers. This is done with consideration of all options.

It’s more hygienic to change filters when needed to prevent bacteria growth verses a combination water softener/filter. Those systems lacks the ability to monitor the saturation of the media, giving unreliable contaminate reduction.  In some areas, (like Los Altos) it is necessary to add a whole house sediment filter. If you look in the toilet tank and see a layer of dirt or debris at the bottom, then it is likely that you may need a sediment filter.  Sediment can clog the strainers in your faucets and showers.Softner, Fluoride tank, whole house carbon, and sediment

Catalytic carbon filters are basically 4.5″ x 20″ filter cartridges (see blue universal housings mounted to wall above) with activated carbon usually made from coconut shells. The catalytic carbon has the ability to remove chloramines, many organic chemicals, and pathogens as well as chlorine from all the water entering your home. City Water Filter installs the filter housing on the main water line coming into your house. We recommend a 20 inch long filter that only needs to be changed once per year.

City Water Filter offers Salt-Free Water Conditioners. The Aries FilterWorks 3300 series Phosphate Cartridge contains food grade, slow melt poly phosphate that dissolves in water to inhibit scale and rust build up. The hardness minerals are converted to crystals (not removed) that neutralizes its ability to bind to surfaces.

City Water Filter takes an active stand against Fluoridated water!

We offer whole house Fluoride Tanks and as well as Fluoride Filters in our reverse osmosis systems.  See our Fluoride pages to learn more.  Cities in Bay Area that don’t Fluoridate are Morgan Hill, San Jose (except North San Jose), Santa Clara (except North Santa Clara), Los Gatos, Saratoga, Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, and Livermore.

The media components of City Water Filter products are primarily supplied by Aries FilterWorks.  They are the benchmark of laboratory quality, premium grade filtration products. They only supply NSF certified filtration from state of the art facilities utilizing the most up to date technologies.

Although whole house reverse osmosis systems do exist, they do not present a feasible option. The cost is a major obstacle and is really an overkill, unless you live next to a coal mine or other highly undesirable location. They produce a considerable amount of wasted water.
