The San Francisco water supply and all the Bay Area Cities that are supplied by San Francisco’s Hetch Hetchy water system have the best water in the State of California.  The source is an alpine reservoir with an enclosed pipeline transporting the purest water all the way to the Bay Area supplying many cities in the Bay Area as South Bay as far as Sunnyvale and Milpitas.  The problem starts when Bay Area cities opt to fluoridate the water and add chemicals that make the water toxic at the water treatment plant.  Chlorine, ammonia, and fluoride are the contaminants of concern for those that drink and shower in San Francisco water supplied areas.  Chlorine and ammonia combine to form chloramine and all their toxic byproducts.  Fluoride is toxic whether it is in the drinking water or shower. Fluoride is only slightly less toxic than arsenic according to the federal government’s own Environmental Protection Agency website.  So if this is the case that fluoride is slightly less or equal to the toxicity of arsenic, then why is the general public accepting it into their drinking water supply?  What if I was to say to you, if you drink arsenic, it was good for your teeth, would you still drink it?  Fluoride is not recommended for children under 3 years old, pregnant women, and the elderly.  In fact, fluoride is not considered to have any positive benefit to individuals over 16 years of age.  Fluoride continues to build up in our bodies over our lifetime and is not easily removed.  By the time we are elderly, our bones have become brittle, and are easily broken from a lifetime of fluoride dosage in our toothpaste, processed food, water and shower.

How come fluoride has been in our drinking water supply since the 1940’s?  The nuclear age began at that time, and fluoride is a byproduct of atomic weapons and fuel rod production.  In other words, fluoride has the ability to concentrate metals like uranium, just like it has the ability to concentrate metals from our old pipes.  So instead of the nuclear industry having to dispose of its fluoride waste, the american public is paying for it in our water supply for a fringe benefit of teeth hardening.  The dilution of fluoride in our water supply is the way the nuclear industry has taken care of its waste problem, and has the public paying for its disposal not only in dollars but in the destruction of our health.

Many of my customers that live in San Francisco and Fremont have opted to install reverse osmosis systems combined with a fluoride filter to remove the fluoride and chloramine.  If you own your own home in San Francisco or from one of the cities that receives their water, a whole house water filter that is customized to remove sediment, chloramine, and fluoride is recommended.  This is usually a triple big blue filter that has a sediment filter, granular activated carbon filter, and a fluoride filter and/or fluoride tank.  If you install this whole house system customized for San Francisco, you will still need a reverse osmosis system to completely remove the fluoride.  Fluoride is a very tiny and stable ion in solution, so stable that even Reverse Osmosis has a difficult time removing it.  That is the reason a reverse osmosis with a fluoride filter is best combination from removing all the fluoride in your drinking water.

A water ionizer can be added to the kitchen if you wish to make the water more alkaline and antioxidant if there is an existing reverse osmosis and/or whole house filter designed for chloramine and fluoride removal.

Without Compromise:

Customers rely on our expertise for recommendations to protect the health of their families. Countless hours have  been spent pursuing water quality and to how best provide solutions, at a reasonable cost, for the locations we serve.  In good conscience we do not compromise the custom features of our systems. “I do not change my recommendations at the request of my customers.  My competition will do whatever you wish just to make a buck.”  We follow the old saying, “why do a project if you can’t do it right?” We stand our ground on that principle. We have standards and a reputation for providing healthy water to our customers.  Especially when we are priced the same as our lowest competitors already.

General Information
The EPA sets legal limits on the levels of certain contaminants in drinking water. The legal limits reflect both the level that protects human health and the level that water systems can achieve using the best available technology. Most states and territories directly oversee the water systems. See current drinking water standards set by EPA.

“A Note for Sensitive Populations Some people may be more vulnerable to contaminants in drinking water than the general population. Immunocompromised persons such as persons with cancer undergoing chemotherapy, persons who have undergone organ transplants, people with HIV/AIDS or other immune system disorders, some elderly, and infants can be particularly at risk from infections. These people should seek advice about their drinking water from their health care providers. USEPA/Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines on appropriate means to lessen the risk of infection by Cryptosporidium and other microbial contaminants are available from the Safe Drinking Water Hotline (1.800.426.4791)”
